We all know that in Super Mario Bros. eight worlds. Four levels in each. But most of us in childhood hoped that there was something else, right? Looking for ways to get into World 9 or some secret level. We tried to jump over a flagpole or climb a hard-to-reach brick – maybe it is there? But, alas, there was a void behind the flagpole, and the block was just a brick.
True, some people are “lucky” to meet the looped “World -1” on the multiplayer games. And there was also 9999 in 1, on which there were some miraculous levels, many of which were completely impassable … But it was all the Chinese who stamped some buggy levels, right? Not. They all exist in the game, albeit “illegally,” so to speak. And they can be reached. Moreover, it is not so difficult.
Total Worlds in the Multiverse Super Mario Bros. 256. Yes, yes. Two hundred and fifty-six. These worlds are often strange and not always livable, many of them are not very interesting, but there are just amazing. How do you like it, for example?
Unknown Worlds Super Mario Bros. Mario, Super Mario Bros, Dendy, Games, Retro, Long Post
In general, there is something to see! How to get into them? We, armed with emulators, do not have to do clever tricks with switching cartridges, as the discoverers did. There are two relatively simple methods.
- Include two Game Genie codes: NNXAZZYE and AANAAXZG. And everything, after the reset on the title screen, you can flip through the worlds, until the eighth and beyond, choose any and play.
- Here you need an emulator FCEUX. We open Debug> Hex Editor in it, look at the Roma in it (View> Super Mario Rom file) and find the line like this: 00 05 0A 0E 13 17 1B 20. We will not go into details, but these are world codes immediately after this piece begins the “level region,” where the codes are set, respectively, levels. Do we need to load some other one instead of level 1-1 at the start? The world one is set by the first cell of the line, i.e., 00. The code of the first level goes immediately after this line. By default, there are 25 and loaded 1-1. If instead of 25 to substitute any other number (from 00 to FF), another level will be loaded instead. This method is good because the modified rum with a start from the desired level can be saved and then run on an emulator.
And now the same thing is brief and clear: open the Roma preview, as described above, find the line 00 05 0A 0E 13 17 1B 20 and change the number that comes after this line.
The vast majority of “alternative” worlds are similar to the usual ones, only sometimes transferred to another “environment”: where the day was in the original, there will be night, and the castle, for example, will be under water and you can swim in it. Many also have a distorted color palette. But there are some unique worlds, which have no analogs among the usual eight. However, be prepared for the fact that the level may suddenly hang in the middle or be crossed by an impassable wall. So before going to them, arm yourself with the Game Genie code set:
